Bio
Kelly Van Andel received her Ph.D. in Theology & Religious Studies from the University of Glasgow, and she has been teaching in UNM’s Religious Studies Program since 2010. Her research and teaching interests lie in the intersection of religion and culture (religion and medicine and religion and literature), as well as in online course design and curriculum development. More specifically, she is interested in the role that myths and narratives play in religion as well as the representation and critique of religion in literature. At UNM Van Andel teaches classes in religion and literature (RELG 350); religion, health, and medicine (RELG 1550); and comparative religion (RELG 1110 & RELG 2020).
